Here is the initial pencil sketch for Shelter Dog design. After sketching a few ideas I choose this sketch because of the powerful visual of the dogs waving butt and tail, then transferred the image to the linoleum block. After looking at it for a while I added the mountains, trees, moon, and fire to make it feel like a complete camp scene. It took about six hours in all to sketch, transfer image, and cut out relief on the block. I inked three proofs before I got the final art print.
